I auditioned on the very first audition date at CCM, December 3rd. At the meeting before the audition, the admissions person said they would have a decision by friday (2 days ago.) Now I was wondering if that was actually going to happen, but I also wanted to know if anybody else has received any word yet?

Real quick to anyone still waiting, all you have to do is call the admissions office and they can tell you.

I think it was a blast! We did a short combination from Newsies (seize the day) and it wasn’t too technically difficult at all! I had no problems with the combination with my 3 years of dance training, but nothing was out of anyone’s league. But I’m not sure if they’ll be doing the same combination at unifieds… Good luck regardless though!

I was also at the first round of auditions, and I haven’t heard anything… But I also have two friends that found out on Friday and were rejected. You think I should call? Did they ever end up posting your decision?

My D auditioned on the 3rd as well and had to call to find out her status. She is no action (or on hold is what I think they called it). I realize that this was the first day of auditions so they have a lot of kids to still see, but does anyone have any idea of roughly how many kids end up in the “on hold” category versus being rejected? I realize its a long way from here to there, but just curious as to whether they cut it in half, or down to a third, etc.

Does CCM make these decisions as they go? Or is the Dec 3rd date an early review while students auditioning on the other dates all wait til the end of all auditions to find out?

I too auditioned for the CCM MT program on the 3rd and initially was ‘no action’. But December 28th Bubba sent me the email telling me I’d been put on hold. I am a transfer student!!! If anyone has any questions about the Webster U MT program/BFA Dance program let me know!

The decisions are loosely made as they go. If it is a no, you will know relatively soon after your audition. Being wait listed is a long, grueling, brutal waiting game that could take several months! When I say several, I mean late May. Well worth the wait, however. This school is second to none!

I am seeing on a Facebook page of a college coach that we used for MT for my D, that several kids are posting ‘academic acceptances’ to CCM just today. Do they do that, I mean, accept or reject academically first? When we go online it just says that all of her stuff has been received and a decision is forthcoming. She auditions at Unifieds in NYC in early Feb.

EJmusicman- Getting the Cincinnatus Scholarship is a wonderful thing, but it doesn’t mean a student has been accepted into the MT program. It just means the regular Univ of Cincinnati admissions folks are impressed and has nothing to do with the CCM admissions people. I know of multiple students who got the Cincinnatus Scholarship last year before finding out they didn’t get into the Conservatory. This is NOT unique to Univ of Cincinnati. It can happen that you will see amazing scholarships from a school and then see the student rejected from the theatre program. Are ya’ll having fun yet? ;)

Haha. I know, but I was just saying that I am aware that this info has been sent out. I was clarifying why some may be saying they have received “academic acceptances.” But, as you pointed out, classicalbk, this is not true! Thanks!

My D received a letter notifying of qualifying for Cincinnatus a few weeks ago, but it clearly stated that it applies if she gets academically accepted into the university. She is auditioning at LA Unifieds for BFA MT and I understand that CCM does not notify of ANY academic acceptance for kids until after their audition. I just called regarding Cincinnatus and trying to figure out when we would know if she would be invited to campus to compete for one of the higher awards and was told that the program has changed this year due to the economy and families not being able to afford to fly to campus to compete and only kids that received a letter saying they received Cincinnatus and now need to submit more items for their portfolio have a chance of competing on campus for higher awards. I guess I need to review that letter because I was shocked that with her test scores, GPA, and resume that she was offered the lowest award possible ($2000/yr) which is also the lowest merit award any school has offered so far by $1000’s. I was informed that she should feel lucky to have gotten any award because only ablout 5% of kids applying this year get anything. I’m still so very disappointed because we were counting on that opportunity for full or partial out of state tuition to be paid via Cincinnatus.

The Honors Program invitation and scholarship awards mean that these students have been identified as top academic admissions and scholarship recipients academically, but of course, like all MT schools, nothing matters until the audition. Still, it’s nice for these students to hear that IF they are accepted artistically, they have some excellent academic things (and scholarship, with the possibility of more) to anticipate also.
