Haha inner tube water polo?! Sounds like so much fun :D regular water polo is already fun too :P

Water polo seems difficult. o:

Wait so, a class like Calc 16a would only be 1 quarter long? How long is a quarter? How many quarters equal a semester? How many quarters equal a year?

Fall, Winter and Spring and they move fast. There are three quarters in a school year.

Quarters last 10 weeks I think.

This should help
Office of the University Registrar | Academic Calendar

What I STILL don't understand is there is 3 quarters...why not just make it a Trimester system?

There is also summer session.

but that doesn't really count does it? lol

No you don't need to do summer (unless you are behind the required 39 units), but it is the 4th part of the quarter system.

So I am guessing enough people take summer sessions to call it the 4th quarter.

btw, what does everyone think a good amount of classes is to begin freshman fall quarter? I was thinking around 3 or 4 classes

One student said she took 17 units for her first quarter, which translated to 4 classes. She said that most people were surprised because that was considered a lot, but she said it's up to you and your work ethic. o:

yea 17 is quite a lot :o but if i want to get Elementary Russian in there, i'll have to do it as well :S

Advising usually helps a lot with this. Most students go easy for the first quarter since there is still so much adjusting to do. You are required (exceptions can be granted with special permission) to take and pass 39 units minimum per year. This is to keep you on a four year track. My advice is to take the most units during winter quarter, especially if you are at all prone to spring fever.

Heh spring fever xD I'm not too prone, but I know I will get lazy, so i should keep myself busy :P

Is it unheard of of people taking more than 4 classes btw?

Animal Sci majors have packed schedules. 180 untis just for the major. you need 180 to graduate. -_-

I have spring fever. I have it right now. xD Or is that senioritis?

what about allergies with itchy eyes and runny noses.. =(

^senioritis

Here is some information that should help
