A potential problem with email is not getting a timely response. Once college my son is applying to says on their website to call because they get so many emails they may not be able to respond quickly.

He will get suspended if he's caught with a cell phone on school property (even in his car in the parking lot at lunch or after school hours), and the school won't let the students use the office phones, so calling is a problem when the college that opens after he leaves for school and closes before he gets home. With my older son I actually went to school during his lunch hour a few times and let him get in my car to use my cell. Unfortunately my current job doesn't always afford the flexibility to be able to do that. I have made secretarial-type calls to ask general questions, but will figure out a way for him to make the calls personally if necessary.
