Just want to know where I stand and would like some advice on improvement

Hi there, I’m currently a high school junior and just want to know where I stand and how I can better my resume, since parents and counselors are talking about colleges right now. I’m not sure where to really put this, so sorry if this doesn’t really fit! Constructive criticism would be seriously appreciated! :-]

Asian female from New York suburbs. Comfortable living.

Cumulative GPA, unweighted: 3.93
SAT: 1580 (second attempt, 790M + 790 R&W)
SATII: Chem 760, Math II and Physics I’m taking in June so TBD (pray for me)
School doesn’t offer rank.

Current courseload: AP Physics I, AP BC Calc, APUSH, French honors, Robotics, Drawing, Java (took last semester), some English classes, we don’t have honors English here, gym lol

(Projected) senior courseload: AP Physics C, Advanced Topics in College Math (this thing we have here), Advanced Topics in Compsci, AP French, AP Drawing, some social studies classes on sustainability which I’m looking forward to, some English classes, gym lol

EC’s:
– Astronomy Club (president, founder), 1 year
– Astronomy independent study, making an educational website (it’s actually up right now :D, but idk if links are okay)
– Teaching STEM at my local library to kids (like Java, robotics, Python, even KenKen lol), 2 years
– Science Olympiad team, 1 year
– Volunteer music tutor, 3 hrs/week, 2 years
– Working at local library, 6 hrs/week, 2 years
– Piano, 10 years

Awards:
– 4th place Science Olympiad astronomy regionals
– Our Science Olympiad team qualified for states this year (first time in 8 years yay)! (does this count as an award lol)
– International piano competition awards, 6 golds and two silvers, getting to play at Carnegie and stuff for the awards ceremonies (not the actual huge hall, there’s Weill recital hall in Carnegie that’s less impressive where I performed lol)
– ABRSM Outstanding mark (again, does this count?)
– Does a 100 on NYSSMA count or nah, I’m basically milking it here

Other things(?):
– Friend and I talked to a bunch of official sounding people and now our school is going to implement biodegradable and 100% recyclable water bottles in the school cafeteria to replace the plastic ones soon! Obviously, the best alternative is just reusable bottles, but this is still an improvement and will encourage the students to be more eco-friendly!! :-]
– Currently working on this little video game… not sure how it’s going to work out but we’ll see LOL

Is there anything here that just doesn’t make sense or fit with the others? Should I do more astronomy stuff haha? Where would the things under “Other things(?)” go? And any safety and target school suggestions (cities or suburbs preferably, with ALSO preferably an eco-conscious campus, and a small to medium-sized population) would be appreciated! For reference, I’m interested in astronomy and physics!

Thank you so much in advance (for both reading and possibly replying to this monstrosity)!

I think that you are doing very well.

When applying to universities, you should find out what your budget is and pay attention to it when picking schools to apply to. Keep an open mind and remember that the top ranked famous schools are a reach for everyone. I routinely work with coworkers who graduated from MIT, Stanford, U.Mass, UNH, Rutgers, a couple of schools I never heard of, and many other schools and no one cares where anyone went to university. You have great in-state public schools in New York that you should seriously consider. Also remember that safeties are just as important as reaches.

Your ECs are great. I think that you should continue to participate in the ECs that you enjoy and that you feel are valuable. Try to find enough time to sleep!

Your SAT is great. There is no reason to retake it unless you just want to do it to see how you will do.

And I think that you just need to keep up the good work and that you will do very well wherever you end up.

You seem like you are right on track for college!

If you are in NY, your safety schools should be the SUNYs, esp SUNY Stonybrook
