Just wondering about ED

This question’s probably really trite, so I apologize, but I was wondering, if you apply ED, does that increase your chance of admission?

yes, it does

ok, just checking. thanks

It depends on the school that you're interested in. If it's EARLY DECISION, generally yes. Schools respect the fact that they are obviously your first choice and you will attend if you get in. Therefore, you have a better chance getting accepted. EARLY ACTION, however, is different. Since you can apply to more than one place early action (unless it's some Single-Choice Early Action BS), the chances of getting in early action and regular decision are usually the same. But, if you don't get in early action, you have a better chance of getting deferred (if your school does that) than rejected, which gives you another chance of admittance in the regular decision round. So, generally speaking, if applying early does not interfere with your options (if you have options, and want them), then do it.
