Just Wondering....

I was curious to see if you all think that growing up and attending school in a small rural community ( around 6,000 population in the county, graduating classes of like 20 - 30 at my school) helps your chances at getting into higher schools like the ivys, duke, ect...becuase the colleges want this supposed diverse student body..and it seems we have less opportunities than other students that grow up and attend schools in big cities (which we pretty much do)

Recently a girl graduated from my independent school...30 ACT..took the SAT and got a perfect math score(danggg) but didnt do all so well in other parts...her ECs were like girl scouts, student government, (ya know the usual stuff any good student has)..anyways...an instant accept for Duke and Brown..

It made me think of that because i always thought that she was a superior student...but now that im gonna be a junior ive looked more into college and see that getting into the nations top schools is a total crapshoot and compared to these statistics that the schools are giving about their 25th - 75th percentiles...im just like "wow" howd she do it?
