Just wondering

Okay, so i go to a high school of about 400 students. 5 are applying to brown (including me). What are the chances that more than one student will be accepted?

Also, my friend and I are both good students and have similar likes/dislikes. If we apply to some of the same schools, can more than one of us get in? Or do most competitive schools only take one per high school?

Thanks for your help!!

There’s no rule about how many students get admitted from a certain school. There are high schools where 10+ people get admitted to the same top school and schools where no one who applies is accepted.

I would focus more on making your individual application as strong as it can be and less on comparing yourself to other applicants.

thanks. I’m not so much worried about comparing myself as I am that if my friend and I apply to the same school only one of us gets in. As far as Brown goes, I’m not worried about the other kids applying because it isn’t my first choice. I was just curious. Oh and I meant that there are 400 kids in my graduating class :)

The chances of any one student getting in are about 10%.
