I know a few people from my school that might apply to Brown. Will my chances of acceptance decrease if others from my school apply also, or does it only matter how competitive my personal application is?

haha, u are soooo paranoid!!!! Don't be. If you deserve to get in, you will. YEs, colleges grade you based on school, so it is important to be unique. For instance, all the jocks will be graded together, the musicians together, etc. You'll do fine. I HOPE YOU GET IN!!!!

I might come here for grad after Duke, so that's why I'm getting a feel for my future comrades!!!!

Don't worry about it. It depends on the applicants. At my school (which is small), for instance, Brown only took 1 kid per year max in the past few years. This year, it took 3. And Columbia took 5, and no more than 1 kid had ever gotten in before. The reason was because our class was particularly strong, so they saw no reason to not take multiple people.
