Has anyone in the college search used this guide, below, for LD or AHDH students? Any advice for making the best use of it. Any reviews? Thanks!

The K&W Guide to College Programs & Services for Students with Learning Disabilities or Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, 11th Edition, published by Princeton Review and authored by Marybeth Kravets and Imy Wax

I didn’t find it useful at all. It is merely a collection of colleges’ descriptions of their disability services programs. Frankly, all of them say pretty much the same thing. The guide does not rank or otherwise comment on which colleges have the best programs. If you have private high schools in your area that specialize in LD/ADHD kids, they can be a great source of information about colleges with good programs.

I have it, but didn’t find it useful at all. Much better, very comprehensive, and very useful is: The College Sourcebook for Students with Learning and Developmental Differences. It’s a few years old…that’s a small advantage of the K&W book, which is kept up. Also the College Sourcebook by Midge Lipkin is hard to find…once you’ll do, probably from a specialty house, you’ll have to order it, and it might cost $50?..not sure. But, I think you’ll find it much more helpful.

i tend to mistrust guidebooks. like inquisitive said, all schools’ disability services look the same on paper, your best bet is either to visit or ask several recent alums. also relevant to note that just bc a school may not have a large disabled student body doesn’t mean it can’t work. the most important aspect is that the office will work with you and listen to you.
