I am not a huge rap fan, but Kanye has real talent. I feel like his is actually producing worthwhile rhymes, and seems to be an intelligent person from the interviews I have seen. I also like that he isn't all ghetto, but is more, dare I say, preppy.

I feel like he's an underground normal who just happened to get really lucky. People in non-mainstream rap talk about positive things all the time (the power of women, the joys of being a father, etc.), but they just don't get as much coverage. Kayne joined Roc-A-Fella, and just got pretty lucky with PR and whatnot. But, kudos to his success.

Some of Kanye's earlier were particurally bad. One of them from some old mixtape was "Even the gingerbread man said you was a monster". That doesn't even make any sense as a rhyme! He seems to have improved some, though. Also, did you know some of the better songs from the College Dropout were deleted and replaced with crappier material.

One rapper who's better than Kanye you may have never heard of is Chamillionaire. He's an underground rapper from Houston. He may not have a broad of subject range as Kanye, but if you heard Chamillinaire rap, he could obviously kill Kanye in a battle. He slaughtered Mike Jones on the "Mixtape Messiah".

Would that actually be hard to do? I think Mike Jones is terrible...probably just as bad as 50 Cent.

I never really liked Mike Jones rapping style (his voice is so annoying to me), but he uses psychological tactics to a certain extent. In every song that he has done (which I have heard) he always says his name atleast three times in his song or more...it's kind of hard to forget his name when his grating voice is repeating it over and over again. In Houston, Mike Jones was one of the more popular underground rappers, but Chamillionare's rhymes are better. In my opinion, I think Slim Thug (another Houston native) is better than the both of them.

Why are yall talking about 50 cent? Damn, he is one of the WROST rappers, I ever heard! For real, lets compare Kanye to a credible rap artist!

Its okay to have music that makes you want to dance, but you can't take an artist seriously if that's ALL he has to offer. Rap especially since its poetry. Not everyone enjoys listening to the same beat over and over. Lyrics are important. Diction and word choice is important and the rappers voice is important.

50 cent has no talent to speak of, IMO. He has a few serious songs, but they don't sound good either. People will say "Yeah, that's a nice message" and never listen to the song again because its so harsh to listen to.
