I am planning on taking a SAT prep course sometime this year. I just can't decide between the Kaplan or PR classes. Which do you prefer?

def PR's classes. The reasons are too long for me to post rite now. But I raised my score so much that PR's techniques deserve much credibilty. And their practice. Also, the class size is usually very small.

Def. Pr......kaplan Is Trashy

Just Do Pr

ok, anyone else?

i took a PR class and all i have to say is "crap." some of their techniques made no sense to me (ie dont read the passages in CR) and their whole philosphy imo is based on improving below average students to average. i dont know what scores u are aiming for, but i would recommend self-studying personally.

but....PR's practice tests are prob the most accurate to the real thing.

I can't say for Kaplan, but if you take PR, I'd recommend that you buy some other prep books and do some side studying on your own. As stanford_dreamer said, its mostly a class for below average students, but I think that they do provide some very useful information. I didn't like PR's CR method, either, but I know some people who swear by that method.

I took both classes, Kaplan definitely has the better class (The made up person Joe in PR is really not average at all, just plain stupid, and the last thing you want to do during a SAT exam is trying to be stupid), though I've noticed that PR give out harder practice tests.
But then a lot also depend on the teacher, that's just luck, I guess. I got a teacher that was an ex-singer who just decided to turn english teacher.

I took Kaplan and I really liked it. I got a 2390. Don't know about PR.

I'm taking a Kaplan class right now i really like it. they give you a lot of practice materials and the teacher is awesome

aww amanda (shadysgurl718) has become a CC,,addict ,, im porud of my girl

Definitely PR. The tests are much better and the approach is as well. I personally like the not reading the passages technique, because those passages bore me to tears and I can't concentrate at all if I read them.

Have you used either company's books? If not, you should spend some time working through both to see which approach you like better. It won't be radically different in their classes.

PR was great. It raised my score a lot, but I would reccomend studying from the PR books also because sometimes the classes don't finish all of the material. but overall, i highly reccomend the course

I would say PR, but remember classes can only do so much, it's more what you take from the class and apply to your studying at home.
