Kaplan vs AAMST test correlation

Does anyone know what's the correlation with Kaplan diagnostic test and a real AAMST test. Is one harder then the other. Son took diagnostic test about 2 months ago and got a 35. He's doing an online Kaplan prep course. He's not done with the course material yet. He tried an AAMST test and got a 36 (12,12,12). His MCATs is end of August so still has a lot of time to study. Is the 36 a good indication of he might expect?

Getting a 35 on a diagnostic is actually really impressive (assuming he had no prior exposure to the test). Generally you have to take multiple of the aamc practice tests and the average is a good indication.
I scored I think 1 point below my average scores for the last 6 ones I took, but I also didn’t have as much study time so it sounds like your son could potentially get a 36+.

He took the diagnostic test before he started his studying so no exposure to the test at all. He’s supposed to take his first full length kaplan test this week so we’ll see how that goes. He will be done with the course 2 weeks before the test date which I know is not a lot of time to do practice. tests. That’s why he thought it would be a good idea to start taking them now.

OP, if your son did that well on the Kaplan diagnostic, he did not need any course. Kaplan has very little to offer those that score high on their exams. Instead, he should be focusing on his weak areas and forget the rest. Any generalized prep is a waste of time.
