Kate Spade or Michael Kors?

My daughter (25) like KS or coach. I like Dooney and Bourke and use my cross body every day.

I’m sure the girl friend would be happy with anything you pick.

So I went to the store today and bought this burgundy rounded bottom KS. I like the shape, I wish it had a little more bling, or a bit of gold chain. It’s a nice size, not too big or little. I wish it had a handle, too.

Then I saw this cream on the website, but this knit might be too small. It’s definitely smaller than the burgundy.

The MK is what I had bought her previously, but in a camel color. I thought that would be a great summer purse, too.

It gets confusing. KS had a darling crossbody with a handle in all sorts of colors , but I hated the closure. It has like a hook. I asked a girl in the store what she thought and she didn’t like it either.

The cream on, you can use the chain as a handle, or it’s just decoration when using the crossbody strap. I’m second guessing myself. Which do you all like better?

Both nice. Very personal choice so I am staying away from gifts like that to DIL unless given a specific link or strong hint about something she wants. But, I am not into purses, don’t want a purse, especially wouldn’t want a designer purse, so I am biased.

My comment would be they are both very nice! I think the burgundy one could be more of an everyday purse where the creme one would be more “on occasion” . I wouldn’t want to shove the creme one in a work desk drawer or anything!

I do feel the creme one is more of a splurge look - maybe one she wouldn’t buy herself - but would really love someone buying it for her!

I am not a fan of the middle (cream) one.
Will she be comfortable returning what you get her if she doesn’t like it, or will she feel like she has to keep it because you gave it to her?
I would be nervous buying the burgundy color for someone I don’t know very well.

I showed the pics to D22. She said, with the caveat that she tends to choose plain, neutral bags, that she likes the first one better. I agree that the second bag, for me personally, looks more special occasion than daily use, but that is my personal preference. Purses are so personal it’s hard to buy for someone else. I like the first one too. I don’t like purses to be carried by a handle - I like to keep my hands free. While I like the MK one, I’d always use the strap rather than the handle so I probably would not buy that style so you really need to know their taste.

Good points! It does look more special occasion, and that’s not what I want to give her.

Thank for your honesty, that’s what I’m looking for. I’m very persuasive in getting my opinion across that a purchase like this is my feeble attempt to find something she liked, but I want her to go and take a look at all the other choices and show me what she ended up choosing (as if I’m expecting her to do that).

Thank you for asking your daughter! It makes me feel. Enter that both of you like the first one. It is prettier in person.

I really like the first one. I’m positive both of our young women would like it, too.

How did the recipient like the bag?

She seemed to like it, but I don’t know if she kept it yet or not. I stressed that I wanted her to take a look at other ones and DS said she has no problem taking things back, so we will see. She comes over today so I’ll know.
