So back to school shopping time is coming up and I was wondering what type of bag to carry my books I should buy. I was thinking about getting a longchamp tote, but I wanted to hear other ideas....I'm a girl btw

Longchamp totes are so overrated. You’ll spend a lot of money on it, but come winter it will start to rip.

Also, they’re kinda ugly, imo.

I think they look fine and they CAN carry books… but an overstuffed longchamp is one of the ugliest things ever hahaa. They are definitely popular, and if you don’t have one, get one, they’re awesome, but as a book bag maybe a nice jansport backpack or a big (and sturdier than longchamp) tote bag like one from rugby or vineyard vines would be more appropriate.

I once saw a girl going up the stairs in one of the buildings on campus when her Longchamp bag handles just ripped off and her bag fell down a flight of stairs, where her textbooks smashed her laptop. Ever since then, I haven’t trusted them.

Also, I can’t pay for them, so yeah. That too.

I was thinking the same thing about Longchamp, they are overrated it seems. So I’ll just keep looking at totes and oversized bags.

I’ve had good luck with JanSport, and they have tons of different bags. Mine has washed well, but I still think it’s smart to get a dark color. Of course, the bigger the better with backpacks!

Longchamp totes are everywhere! It’s extremely easy to confuse bags. But they fit lots of stuff which is great. I rarely ever use a backpack (because they don’t fit my outfits, it seems bulky sometimes, but thats just my opinion). I switch between a black leather bag and a brown leather bag. I really like The Sak for oversized bags. They tend to have nice stuff. Plus you don’t have to bring all of your books to every class. Chances are, you’ll have a free period in-between classes and if you’re dorm is close to the academic buildings, most people will just go back and switch out their books.

longchamps are so expensive! i’m thinking of just getting myself one of the l.l. bean canvas totes - they are incredibly stiff and sturdy and last forever! and they’re pretty cheap as well

Are there some girls who wear backpacks (not totes!)? I don’t really like wearing totes; I’m more of a backpack person…

Yes, plenty of kids use backpacks…even girls.

okay, so because longchamp is mentioned so many times on this thread i feel like the advice im about to give isnt too ridiculous since we are being so nit picky about book bags. Honestly, i feel like longchamps are classy and popular, but not ideal for carrying books and precious cargo such as a laptop. If you go to

they have a list of backpacks under $100 that are preppy, chic, and trendy. If you want another option besides longchamp i think looking at the teen vogue choices are a good way to go…

lmao i just realized that was my 1000 post…well anyways i hope that was useful advice

This sounds stupid, but if you’re not used to using tote bags, maybe you should try putting some heavy books in a tote and practice carrying it around. I have a friend that bought a bunch of bags and then ended up having to use a backpack because bags hurt her shoulder.

I will just stick to my good ole LL.Bean.

hi-fly stereo backpack: $90

observing your pre-calc teacher bumping to your i-pod flow: priceless

Personally, I have always been a backpack person. I have tried using a tote bag in the past, but because of my small petite stature I always feel like the weight is not evenly distributed. Also when I buy backpacks, I like to buy them for long periods of time, I have had my pink 2 pocket Jansport backpack since the sixth grade. I am thinking about investing in a backpack from The North Face, the Heckler to be specific. Hopefully it will last my entire high school career.

I’m a girl and I use a Jansport backpack and I feel like most people use backpacks. LL Bean backpacks are popular.
