Just curious as to whether, for your veteran parents, you kids kept in contact with friends back home and made an effort to get together with them when back home?

Our school started a few weeks ago and our daughter was home over Labor Day weekend. She saw her two closests friends and visited with one other. I was glad to see that as when she returns home from college, her boarding school friends will not be here...they will be in their own home towns. So for that reason, and because she has such a long history with hometown friends, I hope they do stay in touch and stay somewhat connected.

Just wondering if that tends to happen...or not. With so many ways to communicate, I would think this generation would be fairly good at keeping in touch.

We live in FL and my daughter goes to Boarding School in MA. She definitely kept in touch with her “home” friends and has just enjoyed a summer of activities with her “old” friends. With Facebook and Twitter and Tumblr it is easier and easier for them to still feel involved in each other’s lives.
There will be some inevitable emotional distance, but it was quickly overcome. Also this summer she kept in touch with her BS friends and they are scattered all over the US.
Friends stay friends no matter what! :)

The same for my daughter. She worried that her friends would forget her, but texting and social media kept them in touch. That continued when she traveled to Europe for a year and used the same techniques to keep in touch with her boarding school pals and her hometown friends. She got tackled and absorbed once back on campus, and at home.
