Random question…does anyone know if waiting to accept/enroll hurts you from a housing priority standpoint?
Yes it does hurt you. Housing opened up 2/1, so the sooner you submit your housing app the better. You have to put an enrollment deposit down first. If you choose not to go to IU, you forfeit those deposits.
Thanks again @Larkin90. Roughly the totals of the forfeited deposits
would be?
@A1A1A1 My D signed up on 2/1 for housing. We paid a $200 deposit to submit the housing application. She is admitted, but has not made an enrollment deposit yet. Enrollment deposit was not required to fill out housing application. The $200 is non refundable if you end up not attending IU. Link below to the page with housing application steps…
From my understanding, you often have a lot of flexibility with locations, especially with big pro-services firms! I know plenty of people headed to places that aren’t Chi/NYC lol
thank you @blackbird881 I went ahead and put housing deposit as well for S but not enrolling yet.
Random question for anyone on scholarships – S received mid-tier Dean’s amount (~$7k) — is a direct admit to kelley – we won’t get any need based…any scholarships that we should apply to and/or maybe expect to hear in March on?
@A1A1A1 Did he fill out the SSA? If so, it’s possible, but not probable, that he gets another small scholarship. If he didn’t fill out the SSA, I don’t think there is anything else left.
Yes. Filled out SSA.
Do you think so far that Kelley has given you well rounded skills (liberal arts offerings) to prepare you for the changing business world?
Kelley gives you a holistic overview of business- but the closest required kelley classes to liberal arts would be econ/math/stats. Thankfully IU is massive so you can take plenty of courses outside of the B-school. @bigboyk_
There are also plenty of required classes that aren’t really about business such as W131/C204/A303 (writing classes), C104 (oral presentations), K201/K303 (computer skills), etc.
I just got a letter about meet Kelley. They want a 3.4 on a 4.0 scale. Is that unweighted or weighted?
I think what Kelley really has going for them is their I Core program. That in and of itself gives students a foundation to work from whatever their future lies. The liberal arts stuff is widely available if you want it.
I just got my direct admission letter to Kelley. I heard back from IU way back in December and they said they would be sending out Kelley DA decisions in 4-6 weeks and I didn’t get an email so I thought I did not get it. But today I found out I did???
@bigboyk_ I am an IU grad with a child who will apply next fall (she’s interested in nursing, I’d love her to apply to Kelley!). I think I saw that you live in the DMV. I am happy to connect you to a couple of current seniors graduating from Kelley this spring. They can give you the URM perspective. All have been placed with top companies. Also, my sister graduated from Kelley in the early 90s. Please message me if that is helpful.
