My daughter received an invitation to apply for the Kellogg Honors college. It has a 4 essay requirement as well as a LOR. Unfortunately the email states clearly that even if she is accepted into the program she could be denied admission to the college itself. Does anyone know how many go on to be denied after being accepted? I looked on the common data sheet but could not find this information. She did sign up for a tour called the showcase of excellance. We can inquire then but that’s not for a couple of weeks.
Over the last 6 years, I have only seen a couple of applicants (which have posted on CC) that they were accepted into the Honors college but denied admission into the University. It will really depend upon how impacted is her intended major and where her Eligibility index ranks among those applicants.
Thank you.
I guess we are confused as you are applying to the honors program blindly. Most colleges you get the acceptance and then you apply for honors. You could very well do all the essays and not get into the honors program or the college??
@lisa9521: Yes, you could apply to the Honors college and not get in or in to the University. Some schools do invite accepted students to apply for the Honors college and some schools will allow students to apply to their Honors college without an acceptance first.
Both my son’s were invited to apply to the Honors college before their university acceptance but in the end they opted to pass on Honors invite for various reasons.
The majority of Kellogg Honor’s college invitees will be accepted into the University but it is still a gamble.
