Goodkidsdad, what does your son want to do? Where does your son want to work? What does your son want to do as a career? You state that you don’t want him to be near cutthroats who want a spot at Deloitte, but does your son want to work at one of those companies? Does your son want to work for a big firm or move out of Indiana, or does he want to work at a firm with offices in Indianapolis or stay in Indiana?

Sometimes what you want for your kids may not match what they themselves actually desire.

This is really a lot of legwork and I am very grateful. This is information I can use to discuss with the prospective admission departments.

Thanks so much!

Great point Soccergurl7988.

I think you just nailed one of our issues. He is not verbalizing much about his aspirations. So, we are trying to maximize his opportunities to his laid back personality. Not an easy task to say the least. But in the end it is up to him.

Thanks for your help too as we work through this issue.

Do students ever start at school in Indianapolis and then transfer to Bloomington? ie., use the Indy program as a backdoor admit to the Bloomington program?

Sure. If your child has the grades etc. I would with get with admissions and see what happens.

This is a good topic for this thread. Why would you leave IUPUI and try to squeak in at IUB? Why is IUPUI Kelley not the ticket for your child? Sorry, but it kinda makes no sense to me.

Why not max out your current situation and not always be a wannabe?

boysx3, if using “the Indy program as a backdoor admit to the Bloomington program” means getting accepted to Kelley-Indianapolis and then transferring to Kelley Bloomington, then I don’t think that would work. You would have to first transfer into IUB, then take the minimum four admissions courses on the Bloomington campus and then apply to Kelley IUB.
Also, the Kelley admissions website says that it will probably be difficult to graduate in four years as a transfer student.

Also, the Kelley bulletin states that “the Kelley School does not recommend transfer after the first two semesters of undergraduate work.” See p. 12 at [Kelley School of Business Undergraduate Bulletin : Academic Bulletin](<a href=“Indiana University Bloomington”>Indiana University Bloomington)
