Ken Jennings is done.

Poor guy, what an amazing ability for remembering facts. I think it was a fluke. the jeopardy he lost on wasnt that hard, maybe he had an off day or maybe it was rigged....i dunno. post thoughts here.

whoops repost. my bad.

i think it was just the entropy of the universe taking over

Oh My God! They Killed Kenny!

"Poor guy, what an amazing ability for remembering facts."

He's not poor nor is he unlucky.

lmao thats great

Well, Ken lost about $11,000 on those daily doubles. Had he wagered $0 on both, he would have ended the game with around $18,799. Had he answered them both correctly (which is what he usually did), he would have ended the game with close to $29,799. Thus, in reality, missing those 2 daily doubles essentially cost Ken $22,000.

Oh My God! They Killed Kenny!

^
Hahaha, good one.

Yeah... Ken's definitely not poor.

ya, i think he is much better than the person that beat him. Those double jeoperdys killed him. Still, the person got lucky beating him. But he'll get his revenge on the champions tournamnt though

He's coming back in the champions tournament? Nice.

Is it against the rules for him to compete in regular Jeopardy again?

It should be. They should call it the "ken jennings" amendment to Jeopardy.

Yeah, once your run (whether it's one day or 74 days) ends on regular Jeopardy!, you can never appear on it again... unless they invite you back for some special reason, which pretty much never happens.

I didn't really expect this to happen, but I think I miss Ken already. sniffle

He was very gracious in his defeat, and the woman didn't look like she believed it had happened.

But I'm sad too.

rigged.
Space Ranger's Law of Jeopardy: KenJen doesn't loose..EVER

He took too many chances on those daily doubles... bet waaay too much.

rigged...by ken jennings. first off jeopardy wouldn't have rigged it because there have been too many game show scandals like that, but second off, he needed to be done. They record three in a day, which means he has to be in the studio every few days recording episodes--he's a software engineer, who knows what happened with his job because of this, plus, he has a family, and a big one at that coughmormoncough. Look at his final Jeopardy answer, 4 months of the year is only one season, and that's summer. The only industry operating in that season are summer jobs and tax season jobs. Summer jobs aren't white collar, and neither is fedex. The answer was obvious, but he put fedex which isnt white collar nor hires that high in the summer--what was with that. Now he and jeopardy could legally have come to an agreement that the double jeopardies would be really hard, and the final would be easy so that he had a high probability of getting the doubles wrong and the final right, or jeopardy could have decided it was time for ken to go and pulled that on him--he saw the other woman answered on final really quickly he reported, so he could have just decided, i'm done. My thought is jeopardy decided it was time for ken to go, while he revived their ratings in the long run, nobody wants to watch the ken jennings show...maybe i've thought too much about this...what can i say, school is boring as hell.

I dunno, tagran. First of all, I don't see why the Jeopardy! execs would want to see Ken Jennings go. For the first time in a really long time, Jeopardy!'s ratings were better than Wheel of Fortune's, and that rarely happens. Ken Jennings brought a lot of new fans to Jeopardy! and many of those new fans probably won't watch nearly as often now that he's off the show. A quick perusal of the official Jeopardy! message board shows that there are truly some diehard Ken fans out there, so I wouldn't exactly say that nobody wants to watch the Ken Jennings show. And, as for Ken throwing the game because of hardships brought upon him as a result of the show... it's hard for me to believe that's true. Ken was on Letterman last night and described his weekly commutes to the Jeopardy! studio from Salt Lake City as if they were nothing. And I'm pretty sure that his family got to attend some of the games, so it's not like he was away from them for a long time. I dunno, I would be flabbergasted if Ken purposely threw away the chance to make around $150,000 a week just by answering questions.

I am actually really glad he lost. I was tired of seeing his face every single day. It gets boring when one person wins over and over again, it was time for a change. Who knows, I may start watching it regularly again. I know my parents will be (they couldn't stand the fact that he was always winning.)

i liked the guy! No one wins everyone, and the publicity will bring in even more money on top of the prize he's already getting

I don't think it's rigged and it was very strange not seeing Ken behind the podium today. Plus the new champ sucked. Can't wait for the tourney of champions.
