So I will be attending Notre Dame as a first year student this fall, and I was wondering if I would be eligible to major in something from the Keough School of Global Affairs? I know the school officially opens Fall 2017, but I would be interested in majoring in international studies or international relations and wasn’t sure what the deadline was for declaring my major. Or, would it not matter since I could just take the pre reqs for the international studies major as a freshman and sophomore within the College of Arts &Letters and then take my upper level courses in the Keough School?
I’m not 100% sure about it, but I think that the Kroc Institute is used currently for international studies, and you would be in Kroc until Keough was finished. I would definitely try and find out from someone who would know better than me though!
The Keogh School will start slowly - attracting a director, collaborating with existing programs, probably offer some small grad school courses / degrees as it finds its footing and starts to develop into a full program. I expect you will graduate before the Keogh School has full undergrad degree programs. However, if you look at the various existing programs that will be come part of the Keogh school, you may find some areas / programs of interest.
