Killington Music Festival

Anyone have any experience of this festival? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

My daughter enjoyed KMF a couple of years ago - very supportive and positive atmosphere. There was a mix of high school and college aged students, with different sets of rules for each, but both groups interacted well together. Musically, she really enjoyed the focus on chamber music (her passion) and in fact formed an ongoing group that comes together from across the country when their schedule permits to perform. They prefer to do benefit concerts. That’s the kind of atmosphere KMF has! She enjoyed getting to work with teachers and visiting artists in an environment that was more positive and noncompetitive than many festivals she’s attended. Food was ok, scenery amazing (her photos of a sunrise hike up the mountain are spectacular), group activities and field trips fun. She brought her car so was able to get off campus more, including a memorable pilgrimage to Ben & Jerry’s.

Thanks, @stradmom! How did the lessons work? Did your daughter study with the same teacher for the whole time, or different ones? Was she assigned a teacher or did she get to choose?

@musicalkids I believe the teachers rotated in and out throughout the summer at that time. She went specifically to work with one teacher who was there for a longer time period and was able to request him specifically. I’m not sure exactly how she was matched with the other teachers…I can ask her.
