Kind of a wierd question....

I'm from Canada, and am looking at schools in both Canada and the US.

I was wondering if anyone out there knew as to whether AMDA or the Randolph Academy in Toronto had a better reputation.

I hope so.....!

Reputation?

AMDA.

Musical Theatre in Canada:

No University degrees but Sheridan, CCPA, and Randolph are good.

In The States: Look at the links to all the schools, there all good.

So AMDA's better? Any particular reason??

Also,

of the three schools that you mentioned in Canada, how would you rank them?

Sheridan

CCPA

Randolph

All Colleges mind you.

AMDA is more well known, I don't know if "better" is exactly true.

There has been a lot of controversy about AMDA's reputation. If you do a forum search of AMDA, you will find a lot of threads discussing this issue.

If you are looking for a college degree, however, AMDA is only a 2 year program. After finishing the 2-year program, apparently students can transfer to The New School (also in NYC) and complete requirements for a degree. I've been told this is possible, but I don't know how many students actually have done it.

My daughter just received a direct mail piece from AMDA that says it is introducing a new BFA degree. Did anyone else get this in the mail? It appears that they will now have a 4 year degree that will include Gen Ed requirements.

Yes we received that also. My D doesn't seem real interested as she wants a college.

We received that mailing, too. It says that their new BFA degree is only available at AMDA Los Angeles. You can do two years in NY and then transfer to LA - or do all four years in L.A.

But yes - lots of differing opinions on AMDA.

There has been a good amount written here on amda. Search it out.
