Kinds of Extracurricular activities

There are many kinds of extracurricular activities available.

I think these kinds of extracurricular activities can be seperated into about 4~5 categories.

Academic/ Arts&Music&Sports / Social Activity(Like Student Government) /
Volunteering

And most of application form asks me to write down 7 extracurricular activities.

How do I organize these kinds of extracurriculars?

For example ) Academic (3) / A&M&S(1) / Activity(2) / Volunteering (1)

Actually, it is certain that there will be no definite answer, however, I am just hoping to listen CCer's ideas.

P.S How many Major-Related-Extracurricular activities can be adaptable?

If you're trying to figure out which ECs to put on the application, then go with the ones you have the most passion for and the ones you spent the most time doing (if the difference in time is significant. i.e.: 25 hr/wk instead of 10 hr/wk). Put the ones you feel more passionate about first. Leave the worst ones for last.

If I spent 25 hours a week running track, it went on my application. If I thoroughly enjoyed being a peer leader, it went on my application. If I only joined Model Congress to have it look good on my application, it didn't even make it because I had more ECs than space on my application.

I also had NO major related ECs... It's not a big deal if you don't have any activities to relate to your major.

I agree with YankeeBoy: put the ones you spent the most time on/have the most passion for first, whether or not they are normally considered the "better EC" (I listed sci-fi club, which I was president of, before writing for the newspaper, which I never took a leadership position in, for instnace).
