King’s College London chances

Im an international student taking the APs and SATs looking to go to Kings college.
Here are my scores! Presuming I hav a good rec and personal statement, would these scores be likely to give me an offer? I know that kings equates APs to SAT subject tests, and that they choose the higher score out of the two. I’m worried if my SAT bio and physics scores are a bit low for biomedical engineering.

AP Calculus BC-5
AP Chem-5
AP stats-5
AP physics 1: 4
AP Physics C: 4
SAT Math 2: 800
SAT Bio (M): 730
SAT Physics: 760

It would be helpful to get an answer. Thank you all in advance!!!

You should get an offer. My only concern is fours in physics. Bio is not a required subject, so no worries there. Good luck!

Thanks for the comment.
I emailed them and they said they would “discount” the lower score received for a subject if that subject is taken in two separate exams. I guess that means they will only take my Physics SAT test into consideration. Am worrying just a bit about my 760; should I retake the SAT 2?

@jupiter98

Your SAT is high enough. Are you applying elsewhere? Do you have a second choice at KCL as a backup?

I would also clarify with KCL what they mean by two separate exams. Do they mean resits? Usually, UK schools do not count SAT and AP results in the same subject, and they know very well that AP exam is more indepth than SAT subject test.

The 760 is great, no need to retake. It’s just a matter of whether they look at that 4 and discount you based on that (either directly, or after comparison with other applicants).

It’s probably worth applying as one of your five UCAS choices, as long as you also apply to places where they ask UK applicants for AAB at A level for this course without specifying A in physics, which would likely be safeties for an international. If you like London you could look at Queen Mary, for instance.

Are you taking any more APs this year?

@Conformist1688 I’m not sure, I’m planning on retaking AP physics c though. They said they would discount the AP score if it is lower because they cannot “double count” scores for the same subject. I’m thinking they will do it directly.

That will likely mean that if you get an offer from KCL it would be conditional on your getting a 5 in the Physics C, but if your teachers will predict a 5 for you on the form, that will make an offer more likely.

@jupiter98 how do you have a second choice at kcl as a backup? I don’t get how you can write a personal statement for biomedical engineering and another subject

Biochemistry? Neuroscience? PS should work for these subjects and they do not require Physics.
