King's College London Full Tuition

Hi! So I’m from the US and I was accepted to King’s College London. On their website, it says:

"Overseas tuition fees for countries not in the EU are below:

Classroom-based courses: £16,250
Lab-based courses: £21,750
MPharm: £19,000"

Does this mean that a full year taking classroom-based courses would cost £16,250, or does it cost that much per class you take?

Also, does anyone know when King’s will release financial aid packages? I sent them the FAFSA in March.

Thanks!!

No, the course means the degree as a whole, so those are the annual tuition fee totals.

I wouldn’t hold your breath expecting FA from King’s - I think the Fafsa application will just be for US federal loans.

It means that if you study Literature, for example, your cost will be 16k.

If you take science-based courses that require labs, your cost will be 21k.

Have you looked at accommodations cost?

Please let us know where you heard of any UK uni offering financial aid to foreign undergraduates.

Make sure you note that the total amount is in English pounds and not in dollars. Check the currency exchange rate and convert to dollars to get an idea of how many thousand dollars the tuition is.

iirc, accommodation at Kings runs £150-300/week; terms are 10-12 weeks (if you want to leave your stuff in your room over breaks you have to pay for the room, but there might be storage lockers for international students).

@Conformist1688 (who along with @cupcake) is expert in these matters: FAFSA will just be for the $5K federal loan. There are about a half dozen named scholarships for specific people/subjects, but it doesn’t appear from here that you are eligible for any of them.

@cupcake LSE offers financial aid to international students, but it is limited, competition is fierce, and the award does not cover everything. St Andrew’s has an international scholarship (worth about £4000 a year) and accommodation awards that reduces the cost of room and board by about £3000. This still leaves a lot of unmet need.

This is exactly my point! There is basically no meaningful financial aid for foreign undergraduates from UK sources. To get a student visa you have to show you have enough funds (tuition fees and living costs) for the entire duration of your course.
