Hey fellow Kluge Scholars,

I thought it'd be a good idea to get to know each other. Just tell everyone a bit about yourself.

Your post number is 666.

Kluge Scholars is a ridiculous program. Columbia's way of telling all minorities that they're special.

Got one here :) Don't care if it's "ridiculous", it was an honor to be chosen.

Hm... snack kinda makes all the scholar programs sound like crap. maybe someone should add another perspective to this?

I posted several times on this thread:

I would largely agree with snack's comments on the scholar programs.

It's a small program (80 kids out of 1000 isn't a lot) and it helps you get internships. Is it a ploy to draw kids in? Yes. But does it have benefits? Yup.

actually i never heard of this scholarshipp before and never thought there was such kind of scholar...lol

Hm... this is strange. I was just informed that I'm actually a Global Scholar and not a Kluge Scholar, lol. I was kinda wondering about this the whole day. Since I'm not a URM, it didn't really make sense that I was named a Kluge Scholar. Thanks for the information ses! Is this number just for Kluge Scholars or for all Scholars?

blowers daughter: it's not a scholarship.

pearfire: it's a rough estimate. really just a guess of the size of the program. Let's assume it's about 10% of the incoming class.

There isn't really a higher level of scholars (outside of Rabi which is a different program all together). It's done by categories: URMs, SEAS students, Intl. Students, and John Jay which is everybody else. At least that's my understanding according to the stuff I've received.

Oh well, I guess we'll know in a few months what all this is really about. I assume you're coming right?
