KP MOM touches our sons and daughters in more ways than can be put down on paper. She constantly gives to them in every way possible and does it selflessly. She is an amazing lady and we are all SO LUCKY that she is there for our Mids. I am trying to help her with one of her countless support endeavors and I don't have the skills to get it done! Can someone please help me? We are hoping to find one person who can knit a simple shawl about 30" x 6' with large needles. I'll provide the supplies. Your kind efforts will help comfort someone more than you can imagine. Please contact me if you can help us out, and thank you!

This is called a Comfort Shawl, to comfort a female midshipman who has and will be going through great difficulties. She can wrap it around herself when things get hard. Please, we are trying to keep this quiet, but we need help.

My Mom knits everything from blankets to christmas stockings, I'll call her today and ask her if she can do it. If she can I will PM you with her emil address and you can contact her directly. I am sure she will if she has the time, but she is currently committed to knit baby blankets, and out fits for preemies born at the local hospital. She is also the only one who will knit the blankets for the preemies that die, so it is time sensitive for her commitment.

Thank you so very much for reaching out and trying to help us! It is just the kind of angel like your Mom who understands what it is like to give from the heart!

just talked with my wife, she'd be glad to do it, just send me the info etc and she thinks she can get it done pretty quick.
she knitted our 2011 son a long scarf with KP (Kp colors) on the ends for Christmas.

MrsTweedy: Very thoughful. The rest of you parents are just great, AND talented.

(I can't even tie a proper knot, and they won't let me have anything sharp or pointy. I sometimes will walk fast carrying scissors though)

Hey Zonker -

That's a talent in itself! Thank you for your support. We have found a knitter, and the project is underway. Thank you, all you caring parents!

Mrs. Tweedy, my dad was a 1940 something grad, although he is no longer here, I just know my mom (who's the knitter) would love to help out in his honor if you still need it. I will look for your response on this post, since i'm not sure if I would know how to get it if you sent it another way. The best of luck on this project, and to the admitted and prospective students, this was the highlight of my dads life, I hope you all love it as much as he did. Good luck to you all and stay safe!

Hey Jessaly!

Thankfully, someone has answered the "Shawl Call." Interestingly enough, it has also opened up a very possible need for comfort shawls in the near and distant future. KPMOM and myself, along with the Mids who may receive a shawl would be absolutely delighted if your Mom would knit one. It would be every bit as much an honor for her to be the one to make this very, very special shawl. It represents care, compassion and is a warm reminder that one has many friends both familiar and unfamiliar when life gets challenging. And it would be such poignant gesture in memory of your Dad.

You can send me a private message by clicking on my name, and I will give you more details.

Thank you very much, I look forward to hearing from you!

You know MrsTweedy--

I know this is just for the girls, but I bet the boys would like a "blankey" too--this could get really out of hand! What a great idea! I wish my grandma was around. This would have put new life into her. God Bless...
