At our school, smart and athletic go hand in hand half the time. My class for example... my two friends, one- good volleyball player & 4.0. Other- good at volleyball AND basketball AND 4.0. Yeah, I don't see how they do it. The guys aren't quite like the girls, the super athletic ones are just average students and the average athletes are the really good students. But it's been a while since a coach has benched a kid for grades, so that's a good sign.

there are two people that i kno of. this guy plays football, soccer, track, tennis, plays guitar, piano and has a 4.3 gpa. there is this girl who does gymnastics and she has been to like states and nationals and she is on varsity swimming and she has 4.5 gpa also. she and this other girl in my year are competing for valedictorian. shes my role model. haha. i only play piano, and swimming and my gpa is only a 3.8. -_-. compared to all my friends im like yea..lol

I'm top of my class in both GPA and testing scores, and I'm also a water polo player. Not a great one, but I have an icredibly strong shot, though not that accurate. :D

Um, yeah, I'll have taken 10 APs by the time I graduate, so far have a 5.0 W gpa, and I was national champion in power tumbling my freshman year. And I hold three school records for track.

So it's possible. Sorry if that sounded like bragging.

Student athletes have academic requirements, anyhow, so they can't be total dip****s.
