Anyone with current or relatively recent experience with either school: Academic strengths? Opportunities for students during undergraduate and post graduate? Unique points of consideration?
I would love to know as well. We plan to visit both this summer.
Sorry so late. Don’t know about Knox. Our daughter just graduated from Lawrence. It is a great school and they managed COVID to allow in-person classes, music and athletics (to a limited degree). She was a biochemistry major, English minor. Currently, working as a researcher at the Ragon Institute (https://ragoninstitute.org)in Boston and hoping to enter med school in a couple of years. Can’t say enough good things about Lawrence!
My D21 visited both Knox and Lawrence last spring (2021) after getting accepted to each. We (her parents) liked Lawrence a lot, in part because they had fabulous financial aid and a national airport nearby, making getting to and from college easy. Knox gave D21 quite a bit of financial aid, but not as generous as Lawrence. The Knox campus was also a bit more impressive, with a vibrant feel… but it is also an hour away from larger airports. The deciding factor was that D21 liked that Knox has a more diverse student body than any of the other LSCs she visited (just under 50% white, compared to 75-80% at most LACs). This was important to her, and so she will begin as a freshman at Knox next month.
Just visited Knox and Lawrence two weeks ago with my son. Wondering how your daughter feels about her decision, and what are her favorite things about Knox now that she’s there? Both schools are at the top of my son’s list for many of the same reasons you mentioned! Thanks for any input.
