So I live in china, one side of my parent is chinese and other side is korean. I have both country’s citizenship. So when I apply to american univerisities/colleges, which one should I use? Do American colleges prefer Chinese or Korean? Does choosing either of them would affect my admission results?
I’m looking at Middlebury, St. John, and some other colleges. Homeschooled. Junior.
It does not matter. If you only had Indian citizenship, you would hit the trifecta of most overrepresented country. Whichever one you select will give you the same slim chances as any citizen from those countries has for those colleges.
I don’t know. I think China is more over-represented, and there’s some distrust on the part of ADCOMS for Chinese due to cheating scandals for the SATs. I would choose Korean if you are looking for some kind of edge.
I would think it would depend, in part, on how the question is phrased. I haven’t seen it, but if it asks for a list of all the non-US countries for which you have citizenship, then you list both.
You probably want to go with Korean if you have a choice. The cost for visa may be different.
Korean = ROK or DPRK? That may matter in terms of difficulty in getting a student visa to the US.
LOL. Good point.
Another good point. I looked at the Common App, and it requires you to list all citizenships.
I am assuming South Korean. It’s not a bad thing to list dual citizenship.
