The latest piece of glossy mail we got from Marquette referenced an LA Times article that noted all the changes in Milwaukee. Got me curious, so I looked it up and thought I would share it with y'all. Maybe will give you some ideas for future Parent Weekends, too :) .

I love that trolley! I am strongly encouraging son to take summer courses so he can use the trolley to explore the city in his free time, while the weather is nice.

Let him enjoy his last summer at home with his friends before they all leave for college. After this coming summer their life experiences will go in many different directions and their friendships will never quite be the same again. Enjoy your time with him as well…

Milwaukee is not that daunting a city that having a head start will make that much of a difference and there are very few new students, if any, there for summer sessions. The biggest thing however in my opinion is that a major part of the bonding with new friends comes in the co-discovery of new things and places. I honestly think it could disadvantage him in the long run.

Oh, no, not this summer! I meant summer after freshman year. This summer will be for rest, I hope!

Actually, just going to play it by ear. Would be nice for him to spend some time up there without the pressure of school and get to experience what the city has to offer.
