L&S 1 Summer Reading Assignment?

I know that ppl in L&S received The Omnivore's Dilemma to read and that it is optional, but for those taking L&S 1, is it mandatory?

I got an email that says...

Each of you should have received a copy of The Omnivore's Dilemma, by Michael Pollan, in the mail earlier this summer, a gift from the College of Letters & Science. There was a message on the first page of the book, from our deans, asking you to read the book over the summer before you come to Cal. Please be sure to follow the deans' request and read the book before the fall term begins. We will be reading and discussion one of the chapters from the book in L&S 1, and you will play a role in deciding which chapter. Pay good attention while you are reading, and think about which chapter you would most like to discuss, and why.

I don’t think it’s a requirement, but it IS a recommendation. So it can’t hurt, I suppose?

it’s not required…purely optional

unless you’re taking the seminar on the book, it’s optional.

Thanks guys I was worried. I am still trying to read the book since as wxmann said, it can’t hurt, but I find it really boring…

C’mon niki corn cannot possibly be boring :)

lol yeah what i meant to say was that the writing style of the author is boring as hell!!.. well at least for me… lol

Haha, that I DO agree with… almost as bad as stephanie meyer =/

(kidding, kidding)
