I recently applied for Computer Science ( BA) to the College of Letters and Science.
I wanted to know if CS at L&S is different from CS at COE in terms of opportunities later on. As in do job recruiters prefer one over the other ?

Thanks
Haven’t graduated yet, but EECS and L&S CS have identical opportunities from what I’ve heard and seen. I know a lot of L&S CS kids who are absolute geniuses at coding and I’ve met EECS kids who seem to struggle at times. Your experience and skills are more important to recruiters, since either way you’re still in one of the strongest and most prestigious majors @ Berkeley.
There do not appear to be any differences in job opportunities. However it does seem that EECS grads are accepted more often to post graduate programs at top schools. It’s not clear to me whether they are more desirable for those programs or apply to them more frequently.
Oh okay.
How difficult is it to declare cs though? In L&S
3.3 GPA average in 61A, 61B, and 70. https://eecs.berkeley.edu/academics/undergraduate/cs-ba
Not difficult if you know what you’re doing. Most of the people who are unable to declare CS weren’t that dedicated to CS in the first place or came in with no programming experience. For some people, CS just “clicks” with them and they’re able to understand and apply concepts more easily than others. In the end, I guess it really just depends on the person.
Oh okay.
Thanks
