did any of you receive a package of dvd's? I got mine today and just thought it was sweet, free movies.

Mail hasn't arrived yet and this is my first time hearing about it. I have to say though...this place has really calmed down but a few months ago this thread would have started half the people on here saying "ZOMG I DIDN'T GET MINE YET?! AM I RESCINDED?!!" aaahhh the more stressful days.

Yeah, i live near Berkeley and got it 2 days ago. Pretty nice.

What movies did you guys get? Why do they give them out?

wth, Do Want!

I believe its only for new students to the College of Letters and Science. Its part of the "onthesamepage" program.

On the Same Page with Ang Lee and James Schamus

We got 2 movies, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon & The Ice Storm

yeah i got these today. i thought it was a really cool touch. although the memory sticks the engineering kids (or was it business?) got would have been cool too.

Yea I got them too. I guess Ang Lee is going to be doing stuff around campus in the spring?

Yes, Lee, along with James Schamus, who wrote those movies. Schamus is a CAL grad.

That is so awesome.

Ya! I got those movies too and thought it was awesome because i've never been given movies from a school before (then again this is berkeley!). Should be awesome to see ang lee around campus in the spring.

Didn't receive crap yet...

I live in Sacramento and just got mine today. I'm intrigued to see Ice Storm... not so much on the other one.

lol ice storm is full of montages and stuff to analyze. my sister and I watched it and she was always asking me questions...ugh the most annoying part was that i couldn't really answer some of them. lol i might take the class just to get some parts of the movie.

I saw Crouching Tiger when it came out and loved it (it is terrific to see it in a theater). I saw bits of the Ice Storm on cable TV and didn't understand it or like it. Hopefully I'll like it more if I watch it from beginning to end.
