I saw something of the sort as well on the board. Obviously, we have to be patient because letters need to be sent out. Some things we have to take with a grain of salt. Maybe that type of posting shouldbe monitored.

I still can’t find any posts. The only one I can find about Pace is this one…Where are ya’ll lookin’? hahahaha

djexpress you are right. Everything needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Maybe the lesson learned is that every year is different when it comes to acceptances. This year was certainly different, the talent is amazing, and as we all know, it’s more than talent–it’s a good match. Many of our kids (and I especially feel for the kids who are posting) will be disappointed with this outcome that is for sure, but there are so many great programs and so many options.

Alli1drlnd, check back to page 1 of this thread, #3, #7, #8…and so on. Someone said the calls were being made because they had friends that had heard. And someone else suggested that they had finished the calls. Which is what put everyone into a tailspin.

^^^Agreed!

I cannot believe that a school would use several different methods to inform people of their acceptances. Either the head of the program, or the dean, calls; or there is an email sent; or a letter sent. Why would a school use more than one method for different people? It doesn’t make sense. Even if they couldn’t get hold of someone via phone, they would leave a message.

We know that at Pace, Amy Rogers calls, b/c we know people who have rec’d those calls. This week. I personally know people who have received this call. You’re right, we don’t know that she has called everyone, but several days have passed since the first calls went out. It doesn’t take that long to call 20 to 30 people. I understand that people are calling and the school is saying decisions have not all been made, and this is likely a true statement. We have not heard about anyone being waitlisted. So, all decisions have not been made.

Not to open a can of worms, but those of us who use coaches are informed when someone gets into a program. We cheer each other on and are happy for our friends. These postings are on closed FB pages. So, even though my D did not apply to Pace, I can see when other kids who used the same coaching service got into Pace. And when I talk to someone who uses a different coaching service, they say, “Yeah, four people got into Pace today!” And we can see that people got in, and when they got in, b/c they are sharing the news. These are the students, and the parents of these students, who are proud and posting that they got in. Kinda like CC, but on a separate forum. Nothing sinister, nothing unfair. Just friends sharing news.

So, the bottom line is a number of people have already been informed, by Amy, that they have been accepted to the MT program. I think only she knows if she’s finished with those calls, but I guess I would be surprised if she took a 2 day break before making the rest of the calls. Maybe she is.

Good luck to everyone…

Monkey 13–You make a very solid point here. If someone is hearing that kids are getting in and receiving calls, it is safe to assume that it is the method of letting students know. Some programs email, some call and some send letters. You are right that there are still decisions to be made on waitlists, etc. The class is not finalized until every student accepted first round or off the waitlist has commited.

monkey13, if you read post #13 in this thread, that poster actually called Pace yesterday and got information that confirms all of the calls/decisions had not been yet made. Sure that could be the waiting list, and sure that could be different programs (BA, BFA acting, tech or film). Perhaps they do a “first round” and then a second round etc. It’s more than 20-30 calls if you think about it and yes, to try and reach current HS students by phone might take some planning. (especially if you take into account the different time zones.) Anyways, the call the poster in #13 made, revealed that there were still notifications to come. And yes, when my D auditioned for Pace MT, they did say that Amy would personally call you if you got in.

Well as a matter of fact, the Southeast Regional Conference happened yesterday so perhaps the persons making the calls were handling their personal travel plans and attended the conference since there are undergraduate auditions and people on boards of scholararship committees. Its also possible that a few of their top candidates have since made alternate plans for next year and informed the caller of such: i.e. cast on a broadway or touring production or a year in London or Amsterdam or semester in Russia became opportune. Phone calls are two way conversations and although most we know would answer any such phone call with OMG I’m so excited, there may be a few choice accepted students who will throw the whole Chosen Pool off kilter if they’ve made another decision prior to hearing from Pace or any other school calling with an acceptance.

^^^ True. Plus, it’s not like Amy is sitting around doing nothing until it’s time to call everyone. She IS the director of the program and is probably extremely busy as it is.

I suppose it would be safe to say that it is best to wait and see. Best way to know is when you receive a phone call, letter or email from the school. Or, in some cases, the decision is posted online. We all want to keep hope alive.

Pace has no online correct?

Looks like this would be a great time for PacePerfArts (Amy or Wayne) to come on and clear things up !!!

I don’t believe Pace is one of the undergraduate schools attending the SETC, so I don’t think that is why additional calls were not made.

Monkey13—do you know if Pace does a waitlist?

Sorry, djexpress. I have no idea. I’m sure if you called they would tell you…

Pace does a waitlist. You find out via regular mail. Or at least you did in 2010. Things seemed to have changed quite a lot as far as the audition process since then.

i am wondering if amy is finished with all the calls. it seems as if she did it in stages, at different times, but the admissions office says that decisions are still being made, and everything will be final by march 30. i guess only amy knows for sure :)

My D was accepted last year, and I noticed that it took at LEAST a full week, and maybe two, before all the calls were made. Perhaps some people let Amy know right away on the phone that they weren’t going to accept the offer, so she looked further down the list? Not sure, but I remember truly sweating it out when we heard from acquaintances about their acceptances, and days and days went by with no notice. It was absolutely the best day of the whole audition season when that phone call FINALLY came!

Some people got letters saying that they are “alternates” for the people accepted up front. There is supposedly a waiting list that is behind these “alternates.” Very very different from previous years, and it appears very few have been accepted so far.
