Hi guys! I am currently freshman, and my major is chemical engineering. I am international so I don't really know about how to apply or talk to professors about research opportunity
I am looking for chem engineering research lab opportunities or internships during academic year(I already got one for summer research), I know it is really hard to find and get into the lab. My college doesn't have engineering labs, I am looking for labs at other university near our college, and that university is very famous for chem engineering. so, actually I don't have any contacts for professos in that university. I am writing resumes and cover letters to email professors.
1) Should I email different professors with different emails(interests about their research)?
2) Is it rude or inappropriate to ask about research opportunities if I am not their current student?
3) should I ask them as volunteers if research assistant is not available?
I am so worried that I should try or not, but, I really want to work in the labs.
Can you give any advices please?

Hey, I’m also a Chemical Engineering Major! What school do you go to and what school will you be researching at over the summer? I am looking for summer opportunities: research, programs, internships, etc. So any advice or assistance anyone could offer would be appreciated!
