Chemical Engineering Internship

Hi everyone, I am a Freshman Chemical Engineering Major. Unfortunately, my school does not have many contacts with corporations that hire Chem E's. I have been looking for a while on my own for internships or research opportunities, but I can't seem to find anything. I live in Connecticut but I am willing to work anywhere in the US for the summer. Any advice or help anyone could offer would be extremely appreciated.

Have you try your school’s Career Center/Office? How about job fairs? The best place to find internship is through your school’s Career Center. Most major corporations recruit summer interns by visiting various target schools.

You can also try looking at the CVs of your professors and seeing which have connections with industry. You can try talking to them for career advice (and possibly a connection). Heck, you can even try getting a professor to let you do paid research for them over the summer.

I have tried with my career office but unfortunately they do not really have connections with companies that recruit Chem E’s. It’s a very new school. How could I look at their CV’s? I didn’t know that that information was readily accessible.

Most faculty members usually have a website of some sort (especially if they’re research professors), and they’ll have it posted on there.

Exxon Mobil
Chevron
Shell
BP
ConocoPhillips

Only names you need to be concerned with.

That’s a fairly narrow set of companies to look at with a major as broad as Chemical Engineering.
