I am currently declaring pre-med for my major at which ever school I decide to attend. Pomona college, a small Liberal arts college seems to have a very high success rate into med school (85-90%), however, would it's surprisingly high success rate be skewed as a result from its sheer small size compared to a larger public school such as UCLA which is significantly larger though holds a med school admittance rate of only 50% ?? Which school would be recommended for pre-med? ...UCLA holds a lot more resources and research opportunities with its on campus medical center, however, Pomona provides a much more personalized education with professors, which would largely help in my letters of rec, and maybe even help foster a better GPA?? ...money is not an issue

first visit both schools and see which environment you like better since they are super different.

The skewness is most likely a result from the stronger students that enter Pomona to begin with.

True UCLA does has more resources, but over half the students at UCLA start out as premed and probably everyone is fighting for those research spots.

In all, choose your school because you can see yourself there for the next four years. In every school, probably over half the study body starts out premed, and a large percent of them end up not as pre-med. (not to discourage you but it’s truth) So i would really ignore those statistics.

I’ve visited both schools and i honestly can see myself at either UCLA or Pomona…I’m mainly looking for the best pre-med with not as much cut-throat.

I have my bias, so i would say Pomona (small classes, no TAs for labs, and great educational experience)
