Lack of AP opportunity

In our country (Bangladesh) we have no AP classes. Or IB. Or anything like that; we take the O and A'levels. I heard that it won't disadvantage me as the Universities know the situation. But, I was wondering if I could specify it in any way. For my UC application, I was provided a small space for that. Where do I specify this in Commonapp? :S

You could add a comment into your “Additional Information” section.

Something like “My high school does not offer any AP or IB classes. However, I have taken the most challenging course load they offer.”. Of course, you can only say that last part if it is true. There is a spot on the guidance counselor recommendation for them to say whether you have taken the most challenging course load, but I am not sure all counselors fill that out (found out last week that ours does not!).

I would not worry about this as long as you have challenged yourself with what is available at your school. My D was admitted to U of Chicago last week with no APs (her high school does not allow students to take them until they are seniors, and then they can only take two). She had a few college credits from a summer program she did, but that it. Her high school also does not have IB.

:D I talked to my counselor now, and he mentioned that part  My course load was the hardest available, and he agreed with me. Thank you so much! I am also adding to the Additional Information, just in case!

Thank you very much for the quick reply! :)

Yep, I agree.

Your counselor submits a report detailing how rigorous your schedule is and what kind of classes are offered.

You’ll be fine as long as you’ve taken the most rigorous classes possible in your school setting. Colleges will look at your classes in the context of your school
