Yes-Rhandco-Interesting this isn’t a personal check-it’s a check direct from our bank to RPI-it’s transferred from our account and our bank issues a check direct to the university-and we are being blamed for the check being deposited in the wrong account-RPI warned my son that they will not return the money to us next time-it is a hard process for them-??? They really have a h*** of a nerve in my opinion-I’m so glad I only have one child attending next year so they will not have any excuses to offer instead of honesty.
UPDATE-Received the check from RPI which they deposited in the wrong account-I have two children attending-Guess what? RPI messed this up too-they didn’t return what was incorrectly deposited to the account-they returned all money in the account-So I have in front of me a check made out to my son (who is in Troy at RPI) with a few thousand dollars of loan money that was initially disbursed from our loan originator directly to RPI-and to be used only for educational purposes and to be refunded to the loan originator if not utilized (student loan agreement) We just beat the system since RPI is so messed up with their financials-Now I’m honest-I will be returning the money to his RPI account-Wonder what Discover would think of this mathematical error by RPI? Isn’t this a math school? As I said I really wonder about who RPI has working in their administration offices-
RPI lost my child’s transcripts TWICE! They cashed the application fee check though. Funny that the application fee check and the transcripts were in the same Priority Mail mailing envelope. Hmmmm. Not impressed.
@saismom
That happens with a lot of schools. WPI did the same thing to me, but RPI got everything.
Whether or not the students at RPI learn math at a high level is completely unrelated to the ability of their administration to do math, let alone many universities subcontract out various parts of their administrative work.
The higher the position at a university, the more likely the person got there through connections or politics. Same thing at big companies - my friend was an engineer in an engineering group at a Fortune 50 company, and her boss was an English major with no knowledge of what work the group did.
I am glad the issue seems to be resolved.
(I wouldn’t necessarily think that the bank might be innocent in that story - we have had times when my spouse requested a check through the online banking system, and it never arrived at the recipient. Again - we are using the payment plan so “hopefully” things will work out financially.)
