Are top LAC's such as Middlebury considered target schools? Would I have to major in Economics at an LAC to get a job in finance, or could I major in something like international Relations/Political Science and STILL get a job in finance?

1.No

2.Yes

But you don’t need to go to a target school as long as you excel academically and impress them with your resum

Top investment banks actively recruit students from top LACs, including Amherst, Williams, Middlebury, Wesleyan, etc.

^I’ve known very few from Wesleyan that ended up in IB analyst classes, although probably moreso because the student body is generally uninterested as opposed to they’re not able. In addition to the schools arcadia mentions above, from my experience, Bowdoin, Colgate, Hamilton, Colby were the four other LACs that have decent representation at IBs.

You can get into IB but don’t really expect recruiters. Also, most liberal arts kids aren’t banker types. But a good % do break in from top schools
