1.. I heard that LACs are just 2 year colleges?
You are confussing LACs, Liberal Art Colleges, with community colleges.
2. Does that mean that there's no graduate studies there?
Some LACs do offer grad school degrees on liberal arts related fields, of course.
3. What if I go to a LAC and want to do medicine?
Many people go to an LAC and either take bio, biochem, chem or a self-design major and then apply to med schools. In the US it doesn't matter what you study for going to med school, as long as you do good on your mcats.
4. Do I have to then transfer to another school?
Again, LACs are not CCs. They offer a 4yrs long B.A.
5. Are the courses they offer any different from standard uni's?
The main difference is that you will not get Bussiness courses, engineering courses, and you will not receive a B.S.
6. What do they mean by Liberal Arts Education?
Liberal Arts education means that you will be studying the liberal arts curriculum. Which involves studying subjects in the following fields for your freshman and sophomore years: Math, Sciences (Astronomy, geology, chemistry, physics or even psychology), Foreign language(the requirement can be waived by successfully passing a placement test), English(Writing or/and literature), Social Sciences(Governments, Geography, Economics) and Humanities(History, Phylosophy, Literature).
7. What are the advantages of going there instead of normal uni's?
The advantages are that you will get a broader education. Many universities in the US use the liberal art curriculum for the first two years. Technical/vocational and engineering programs at universities give you less flexibility.
8. What are the disadvantages of going there instead of normal uni's?
The only disadvantage would be that if you are interested in engineering/sciences you would have some obstacles for majoring in engineering and you will not get a B.S.
