Lafayette Accepted International Students Forum

Hey guys! I’m really happy that you all got accepted, I want to congratulate each of you. That’s seriously awesome :slight_smile: I was waitisted:( If you guys don’t mind, I would really appreciate if you would let Lafayatte know if you are going to attend or not by May 1st, because the sooner you let them know of your decision, the sooner I will know if I am off the waitlist and will be accepted (they told me I will know sometime between April 23rd to May 16th) I realized I made the biggest mistake not doing early decision at Lafayette because it’s truly where I want to go, definitely would be my number one school. Awe thanks guys, I really appreciate it!

@dancingjuicedesu: Hey! Well my family is currently in Delhi too actually! Gurgaon actually…But I’m from Kolkata (8 years) and Bombay (10 years). Only last year we moved to Delhi so I’m not that well acquainted with the place yet haha. Which part of New Delhi are you from?

And as for your second question…Lafayette college is located in this small town called Easton. Although its small, its got its own charm and can be really beautiful during the spring. Malls like Walmart/Target etc are not too far away from campus and there are regular services offered to such places if you need to buy your daily stuff.
Regarding nearby unis, the closest big one is Lehigh Uni. I have heard of a couple of people taking classes there during the summer. But Lafayette offers summer courses too so if your looking to take something over your breaks you can take it either at Lehigh or at Laf. :)

@sixstringsrocker yeah I’m coming to Lafayette! I have a seemingly stupid question - must we submit the enrollment form via paper mail instead of emailing it to the office? I’m worried about its getting lost and its slowness.
Hope to learn more about Lafayette from you seniors!
First, how’s the food there? Lol.

Hello all : )
I am also a future student (from Bulgaria). I was wondering if there are other bulgarians accepted this year?
Looking forward to meeting you (:

Congratulations!mh54321! We are really looking forward to seeing you next year!

@markyza Congrats! There are quite a few Bulgarian students on campus and I’m sure you have tried reaching to them on facebook. There is a freshman this year from Bulgarian and a few junior/seniors too. Glad that you’re coming!

Hi guys! I have a question.@current students What is the one thing/or two that you like/enjoy the most about Lafayette?

By the way, are there any Co-op chances for engineering students?

Congrats markyza!

@Appy123: thanks a lot for thedescription!
Haha, I’m not actually from Delhi either, I’ve lived in Noida my whole life. Anyway, I was wondering if you could PM me your email address so I can ask you a few more (Indian-specific) questions there instead of clogging up the forum? I’ll just PM you mine. Thanks!

@davidyu2404

I know a guy who did co-op for two semesters but dont know much about the whole system.

I wonder how to get to the campus. I am taking international flights. Any good advice?

The international students association picks students up on the day before International Student Orientation (from JFK and Newark airports).

@sixstringsrocker

Thank you! Is this a service for all international students or just freshmen? I mean what do we do when we plan to go home or when we come back next year?
Also, on the day we arrive on campus, do we get a chance to go to the mall?

ISA will pick you up only the first time you’re arriving. When you go home the following year or so, you can take the shuttle directly to JFK or Newark.
ISA will take you to a super-market during your orientation. I think it’s the second day. It’s not a mall but it’s a supermarket (walmart or Target).

Thank you for the information! I was really worried about the stuff that I need since I can’t take all my bedding and electronics oversea.
Can’t wait to be on campus now!

When are we(international students) expected to arrive on campus or any airport ??

@toby0321 you can order your beddings online and it will be delivered to you mailbox so that you can pick it up when you arrive.

@markyza Fall semester starts on 27, August. There is generally three-day general orientation for first-years and a short international student orientation before that. You will hear shortly from our international student adviser about the exact date. You can either fly to JFK or Newark Liberty airport, or you can

Arrange your own transportation to campus.

@markyza:

You should plan to arrive on the 19th of August. International Orientation is August 20-22, and general orientation is Aug 23-26, classes start August 27th.
