Captainclueless,
Is it illegal for international students to work during summer and winter breaks?(Works that are not related to our major and outside campus jobs.If yes,Do we get such jobs easily ?)Is there any way I could contact sixstringsrocker or we could bring him to this thread? As I am not used to collegeconfidential will sending message here work?

I have just contacted Mr.Eugene Gabaye who’s in charge of international admission. He says that all formal appeals regarding financial aid will be responded in Jan 3.
Btw why don’t you contact the Office of Admissions, johnnash2? I though the admissions officers are the ones to decide if you’re a scholarship candidate.
I am international btw.

ursawarrior,
What have you done till now for the reconsideration of financial aid?Only contacted the financial office? Will talking to the admissions officers help?

Did anyone who applied RD hear about Marquis Scholarship or Fellowship?

If you are awarded the Marquis Scholarship, you are informed at the same time you are informed of your acceptance.

If you are a finalist for the Marquis Fellowship, you will be sent an invitation to come to Lafayette for on-campus assessment. These invitations will be sent out in early February.

Hi, ursawarrior. I’m a member of Lafayette Class of 2018. I created a group on facebook namely “Lafayette College Class of 2018”. Please join us and we can make friends !

Guys,
I am very confused whether or not to apply ED 2. I have emailed Lafayette, but nobody has replied yet. My main concern is the very low family contribution - 4k. Can someone please advise as the deadline is very near?
I am from India, bdw.

thenewdude,

If you apply ED2 and are accepted, then Lafayette is agreeing to meet your full demonstrated need as according to the CSS form and FAFSA. If Lafayette is unable to meet your need, they will not accept you. In no circumstance will you be obligated to attend Lafayette due to the ED agreement if we cannot meet your demonstrated need, so that is not something to worry about :)

Taylor,

Thanks for replying again. I just needed to be 100% sure before sending in any kind of binding contract!
I have two follow up question:
- The deadline for EDII is the 1st of Jan. This means that the postmark should be no later than that date, right? I mean if I send my package tomorrow, it won’t reach the US before the 15th of Jan.
- What is the procedure to arrange a Skype interview? Does Lafayette even does that? I saw some previous threads where you have strongly advised people to interview as this shows interest, and I wouldn’t want to miss out on any such opportunity.

thenewdude,

Yes, that is correct. You should be fine as long as it is postmarked Jan 1 or earlier.

Lafayette does not offer skype interviews. Most interview requests for international students cannot be fulfilled, so you do not have to worry about it.

Let me know if you have any other questions :)

Taylor

The fellowship invitation will be sent by mail or email? Thanks

@Canasia2014 - It’s by mail.

Hey johnnash2, So I am also from Nepal and am applying RD to Lafayette. I actually got in my ED II College where my family contribution is 8.5 K/year including health insurance and books too. On top of that I have 3500 K/year loan and 2k work/study. I was hoping they would give me more aid but they said they don’t negotiate. Now I am considering maybe declining this offer and waiting for RD results. I am not sure if this is a smart decision, incase I don’t get a better deal So how much aid did u get? whats ur fam contribution and loan? And are you attending lafayette now? thanks man!
