What are the most laid-back liberal arts colleges that are top 30 ranked?
Also What are the most laid-back national universities that are top 50 ranked?

I guess I should explain more.

Students who care about learning but are collaborative. They like to party. Workload isnt cuttthroat/extremely intense (EX: Swarthmore, Carleton). Chill and relaxed college basically

Whitman College has rigorous academics but a laid-back fun loving student body. My S was looking for the same things you are and loves it there.

New college in Florida for sure. From what i understand, it is like the most laid back place on the planet. a lot of hippy-types and a lot of drugs on the campus. but also good academics.

Rice, Brown, and Tufts appear to be good schools that fit into this category. The three schools have similar cultures of nice and friendly people.

The Evergreen State College, in Western Washington, is one of two public LAC’s in Loren Pope’s ‘Colleges That Change Lives’ book (CTCL.org), based primarily on it Interdisciplinary approach to the programs offered, would be worthy of investigation.

Located 1.5 hrs from Portland and Seattle, an hour from either the mountains or the Pacific Ocean and located on 1000+ mostly natural acres (bordering on the Puget Sound).

it so happens to be as mellow as there possibly is - all work is collaborated (actually, the ‘narrative grades’ base themselves upon one’s collaborative involvement over personal achievement). Students design their majors and this is a Very liberal campus.

Drum circles, organic farming, LBGT friendly for sure. 15 minutes away from the state capitol, environmental sciences are a strong suit as well as the arts. A thought provoking environment in which to evolve into the You that you will become.

Worthy of a look-see as 40% of the 4300 undergrads are out of state due to its many attributes. That said, there are numerous LAC’s that offer more of a ‘major focused’ curriculum if the independent designed major doesn’t float your boat.
