So far I have figured out:

Oregon
UC Santa Cruz
UNC-Wilmington

What am I missing? The schools all y'all name aren't allowed to be harder than Syracuse University to get into.

Thanks

From what I've seen, Ithaca College seems to be a very laid-back school.

When I visited Penn State it had a definite relaxed feel to the campus. Although the energy does get considerably more intense on football gameday.

Oregon for sure is laid back. I'm also looking for really laid back schools. Right now Oregon is my top choice and I've been criticized heavily by others on this board because of it (I have a 3.9 uw gpa and a 2300 sat score).

You could always look at schools like Evergreen State, Hampshire, etc. Depends on if you meant drug-induced relaxation I guess. :]

university of hawaii

larger public schools tend to be more relaxed than private ones. why are you interested in UNC-W? i'd definitely tell you that its atmosphere is pretty chilled out, but academically it's not super strong unless you're going for marine biology or film, which are both fabulous programs there.

yeah i'm interested in film. also thinking about english and psych though. there's a major film studio located near the campus i forget which one though.

i think CU i'm going to have to pass on...too much emphasis on partying it seems.

By the way, it seems like I need to look for schools where there is a lot of drug use if i'm going to find a real mellow school sheesh :/

any community college

"any community college"

Hardly. The general population works full-time. The honors kids run around doing everything they can to get out.

UC Santa Barbara
UC Santa Cruz
UC San Diego

^cali beach/stoner/surfer schools

^

I agree with you but they might be tooo expensive.

Thats good to hear.

Chapman, Loyola Marymount, Long Beach State, Sacramento State, San Diego State, USan Diego...

Sac State is a horrible school. Not sure why you recommended that. Chapman definitely isn't chill at all. It's where overprivileged kids who can't get into the UC's, USC, or Santa Clara go to school. USD is pretty similar to Chapman.

Hampshire was a good suggestion... It's pretty laid back in the over-all feel of the campus. But don't let that fool you -- Hampshire students are serious about their academics. I'd deffinately reccommend looking into it.

berkeley .

i agree with brieb08.. UH

A lot of Cali schools are pretty laid back. I'm going to SJ State in the fall and so far it's giving me a pretty cool laid back vibe. It's also in a city which has its perks.
I think of it as laid back without being boring ^___-

Stanford University is the most laid back of them all but then again the OP said no school harder than Syracuse so i guess you can pass on Stanford.
