Language Requirement?

I'm planning to apply to College of Arts and Science. Is there a language requirement for that college? I'm currently a junior and I really don't want to take French 5AP next year, but I don't want to take a language in college either.

take the french 5AP b/c the College of Arts and Sciences does have a language requirement, which means you have to take 3 semesters of a language at the very least! (unless you place into 2nd or 3rd semester since you already have some high school french)

You cannot place out of the language requirement. You at least need to take one intermediate or upperlevel language course unless you are starting out from the basics, in which case you need to take the 3 course sequence (121, 122, and 123 usually). The requirements might have changed so you might want to check it out on the cornell website. Language is one of the easier courses here imo and it's probably one of the more laid back classes you'll have, unless you haven't been exposed to the language prior to coming here.

fudgemaster they didn't change much it's still the same but like said with the placement test u can place into either 123 or 209. if u get into 209 then u take only one semester of language. If u place into 123 then u have to take that semester and a semester of 209. Keep in mind that 209 is for ppl who did do well on the AP test. and that is option 1

Option 2 is starting a new language. U have take 12 credits(3 semesters) of this new language 121, 122, and 123 or 209.I kno for Romance languages at the end of 122 u will take a placement exam that will place u into 123 or 209. 123 is like review and 209 is like the next, harder level. get into 209 b/c to go abroad u only need to take 219(the next class after 209)

Language classes are not that easy (Beginning Italian is though) but i kno Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, and French are rigorous. I think most ppl say that they are hard because u don't want lower than a B+ in a language and maintaining that is difficult
