I, like almost every college freshman, need a laptop and I was looking at this sweet deal for a Compaq v2000z with AMD Turion 64. It's around $1300.

Should I get a Pentium M or just stick with AMD. The thing is I want to be able to install Windows Longhorn (or Vista) on it and obviously Pentium M in 32 bit. So, what should I do?

I'm taking a fat chance here at assuming someone knows the garbage I just spit out!!

Well the Turion is not going to give you as good as battery life, and the performance of the Pentium M is slightly better. However, you probably notice too much of a difference. So if you want the 64 bit then go with the Turion.

I saw that one at circuit city and best buy. when we asked the workers (who seemed to really know computers) they both recommended it. i just don't like the small screen, so i'll probably go with a different pc.
