Today we received a Mailing regarding nightly file back up. Can a "seasoned" Elon parent tell me if this is a service we should sign up for? Advice is much appreciated.

Older son is at Wake Forest and we received an identical offer before his freshman year - and passed on it - he just uses a flash drive as a back-up. I view this offer like the care packages - you could pay for the service - but not necessary.

Anyone have a different opinion? Are you purchasing this service?

We got the same mailing. It seems a bit overpriced. We are just going to get a thumb drive and tell her to back up her papers.

S uses google docs and dropbox to stores files, do no risk of losing thumb drive.

We always email any important assignments to ourselves in an attachment. That way you can access it from any computer.

We are passing on this service.

D saves her stuff on Elon’s servers (I think they give them a certain amount of space?) or else she just emails it to herself and it lives in her email account (which at Elon is done through Gmail.) I wouldn’t pay for a nightly backup service.
