Would you say it's more advisable to be carrying a backpack or a messenger? Do people usually bring their laptops to classes? Do people usually bring their textbooks to classes?
I'm looking at the timbuk2 laptop backpacks at the moment, but am unsure if it's worth my money.

Messenger. I got a backpack and I regret. I can't picture myself lugging a backpack around anymore. But maybe that's because I'm a girl. :)

i'm a girl too.. I'm just worried about the weight of my laptop/posture/shoulder issues. I used a messenger bag alll senior year, and it was fine most of the time unless i evef had anything slightly heavy. Then my shoulders started to do this thing called "let's have shooting pains and try and kill you"

Oooh right. Well, it also depends on how big/heavy your laptop is. Mine is a nice small 15" lightweight so it's pretty easy to take around. If yours is a big 17"+ desktop laptop, haha, you might not want to carry that around. ;o

mine's a 14'' laptop, about 4.7 lbs., but I figure it'll still be a headache to carry it around, esp because you're walking relatively long distances with it.

it doesnt seem like i need my laptop for any of my first quarter classes... chem 6a, math 20b, econ 1, nd intro to society.

If your notebook is light, you can pass with a messenger bag. If your notebook is heavy, you'll need the backpack so that it rests on both of your shoulders - otherwise you'll end up tilting. :)

Be like me and get both :}

MWF and TTh classes are really different, so I'll be switching off.
